Selling guide
How to price a used NAS enclosure
Used NAS listings become misleading when disks, memory upgrades, trays and licenses are buried in the title. A credible price starts with a complete configuration record.
State whether drives are included
List drive count, model, capacity, health information and whether the buyer is purchasing an enclosure only. Never imply installed capacity when the unit is diskless.
Describe condition and accessories
Include power supply, trays, network accessories, warranty state and any known faults. Buyers need this context to compare a used system fairly.
Use completed-sale data only when licensed
Asking prices are not evidence of a final transaction. If completed-sale data is not authorized, present the listing as an observed offer rather than a resale valuation.
Frequently asked questions
Common questions about used tech value
Should used NAS drives be included in the price?
Only when their capacity, condition and health information are documented. Otherwise price the enclosure separately.
How do I value a diskless NAS?
Compare recent equivalent enclosure listings, accounting for condition, accessories and shipping. Do not compare it to a bundle containing hard drives.
